Well, my passion for the water and outdoors started many years ago growing up in Tampa Florida. My parents were just a couple of hippie photographers, so weekends were typically spent paddling in a canoe, free diving the springs and hunting for the next campsite all while documenting our every turn. Being outdoors and underwater quickly became second nature to me. As the years progressed, so did the hobbies. My days were quickly filled with tons of paddleboarding, surfing, fishing, freediving, wakeboarding, jet skiing, skimboarding and of course photography. I soon realized my life pretty much revolved around water and ever escaping its clutches would never be a possibility or a desire. I was forever hooked on being in, around or on the water.
Down the road my passion for paddleboarding quickly exceeded all my other hobbies, probably due to all those hippie paddle sessions. I found myself on a paddleboard almost every other day. Whether it was just a morning cardio paddle sesh, casual river paddle, local race-league night or even a charity distance paddle, I was there, paddle in hand. Around 2011, I was introduced to the BOTE brand and family. I heard Corey and Magna’s story, and I could truly relate to their passion for the sport. I immediately knew this is the company who I wanted to paddle for and represent. I’ve been on a BOTE board ever since.
These days not much has changed. You can typically find me paddling somewhere in the world while documenting my adventures and explorations along the way. I’m constantly on the hunt to discover new places where half the adventure is just getting there. With the help of social media, I have been able to document paddling places not typically seen from a paddler’s perspective. I’m beyond grateful to have the support from the greatest SUP company on the planet and allowing me to follow my dreams and passions. Thank you BOTE! – Evan Alonzo
