Taking SUP fishing to the next level!

BOTE paddlers and fishers, alike, have caught many fish off of their paddle boards, but none the size of Steve Dougherty’s, of Florida Sport Fishing Magazine, sailfish!

“While filming an episode of Florida Sport Fishing TV – JACKPOT! Monster sailfish crushed Steve’s gog along a nice color change in 120′ off Spanish River. Fish towed him out to 250′ before being released. The new season starts July 2012 on SunSports.”

BOTE is excited that Steve is utilizing his board to the fullest! From paddling, fishing, to surfing- That is what the BOTE board is all about! Can’t wait to see what Steve does (or catches!) next!

What is the largest fish that you’ve caught from a paddle board? Please share it with us on our Facebook page!

FREE DEMOS… Everyday!!

BOTE knows that not everyone has tried stand up paddling before and wants to encourage everyone to give it a shot! That is why BOTE offers FREE DEMOS everyday during business hours at both the Destin and Gulf Breeze location!

Since the Gulf Breeze location happens to be directly on the water, BOTE decided to have an impromptu Demo Day to bring friends, old and new, together with one thing in common… paddling!

Thank you to Paddle Destin for coming out to paddle, and for taking some photos!

It was a fun and beautiful day for paddling, and BOTE wants everyone to come and try out a board, so be sure to visit either location for a free demo!

BOTE and Brew for Wildlife: We Have a Winner

BOTE Paddleboards would like to congratulate Jason Martin on winning the custom SweetWater BOTE Board.

Contest winner Jason Martin with Deb Edwards of Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge and Jared Cramblet of BOTE

The drawing for the board was held Saturday, November 12, at the Greater Gulf Coast Beer Festival.  Deb Edwards, of the Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge, drew the winning ticket live on-stage.  ”I’ve never won anything in my entire life,” Martin said.  ”This is amazing.”

The BOTE and Brew for Wildlife campaign was a huge success.  With all of your help, we raised thousands of dollars for the Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge.  We would like to thank everyone that attended any of the events and purchased raffle tickets.  We would also like to thank our friends at SweetWater Brewing Company, Mellow Mushroom, Funky Blues Shack, Chan’s Wine World and most of all, The Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge for all of the hard work they do and the continuation of their mission.

Thanks again and be sure to keep an eye out for future events and contests.  Chances are, there will be more chances to win a board that is just as SWEET!!

BOTE at Surf Expo in Orlando, FL

The BOTE crew spent the last week in Orlando, FL at Surf Expo.  Surf Expo is a trade show that showcases the latest products in surf, skate, SUP, swimwear and anything related to the industry.  There, we had the opportunity to meet with several new BOTE dealers and see / try some of the newest products in the industry.

Our booth at Surf Expo

This is a picture of our showcase booth.  We lucked out and were placed next to the indoor SUP pool, where show attendees were able to paddle BOTE boards next to our booth.

Jared and Magda speaking with one of our new BOTE retailers, Compound Surf.

We were also able to get away for a few seconds to check out the wake pool.

The crew had a blast at Surf Expo and look forward to attending the next Surf Expo in January 2012!

NEW PRODUCT: The Gator Belly

Gator Belly
We will soon be offering a new product…a board that is nearly indestructible. We have decided to call the beast the “Gator Belly”.  The board has the same dimensions as our 12′ BOTE Board. The Gator Belly series features several unique features that are definitely industry firsts.

The most notable is the poly-urethane rubber coated rails and bottom.  You can literally drag the board across the concrete without damaging or scratching it (video to come). It adds about 4lbs of weight to the board.  The board also features and gator scale textured 8mm thick pad…the pad is truly awesome.

BOTE in FLORIDA SPORTSMAN

Thanks to the writers at Florida Sportsman, particularly Sam Hudson,  for crafting such a nifty piece of journalism about BOTE Boards.  BOTE is featured in the March issue of Florida Sportsman

BOTE Paddleboards
Keeping it simple—a unique way to fish shallow waters.
By Sam Hudson

March 2011 WebXtra Coverage
Florida Sportsman staffers Jeff Weakley and Sam Hudson met with Magda Cooper, co- owner of BOTE Boards, to test out BOTE’s paddleboards made specifically for anglers. Paddleboards are new to the angling scene, and we jumped at the opportunity to test them.

Unique from others, BOTE’s PaddleBoard is a standup paddleboard (SUP) built for fishing. The 12-foot-long, 30-inch-wide, 5-inch-thick board is constructed from high-quality EPS foam core, skinned with fiberglass, and then covered with epoxy resin and paint shell. A 10-inch carbon-fiber fin keeps the board tracking straight when paddling with BOTE’s carbon-fiber paddle.
