BOTE meets Bug Slinger™!

The BOTE Brand and the Bug Slinger™ Fly Gear Brand have a lot in common. Both developed on the idea of wanting to evolve something simple into something new and hip; BOTE and Bug Slinger™ have taken stand up paddleboards and fly fishing gear to an exciting new level. While BOTE created advanced and industry first stand up paddleboards- that were also aesthetically cool; Bug Slinger™ took fly fishing gear and added artistic designs that reflect a fresher insight to the sport, to create clothing and accessories that are an outward expression of the way fly fishing is viewed.

It was a no brainer that BOTE and Bug Slinger™ should team up to create a line of visually and physically awesome limited edition boards. BOTE boards will be launching the classic 12’ BOTE Board featuring the Bug Slinger™  “Tarbone” design, and the 12’ BOTE HD featuring the “Glider” design.

BOTE’s brand was built around “Fish. Paddle. Surf.” whereas Bug Slinger™ is about “Fly Fishing, Life, Style.” Do both with these Limited Edition* boards!

We’re STOKED!

We took our Classic 12′ BOTE board and incorporated the Bug Slinger Fly Gear “Tarbone” design which features cool multicolored Tarpon and bone fish artwork.

The 12′ BOTE HD glides across the water even better with the Bug Slinger™ Fly Gear’s “Glider” design featuring a watercolor top and flying fish images on the bottom.

1st Annual Five Flags Paddleboard Classic

Last weekend marked the 1st Annual Five Flags Paddleboard Classic, hosted by Coastal Paddle Company. The race was held at The Grand Marlin on Pensacola Beach. It was a little windy, with some chop, which made for a challenging, but fun race!

There were numerous BOTE boards there, and our new 12’6″ Matte White Wraith SS made it’s debut!

BOTE also racked in the trophies! Magda Cooper won 1st in the women’s 12’6″ Elite division on the Matte White Wraith SS; Pete Buzzelli took 1st in the men’s 14′ Elite division on a Matte Black Gonzo SS; Tanner Chechak came in 1st in the Kid’s 1 Mile Kids division on a 9’6″ Monster; and first time racer and new BOTE owner Ashley Chrisman took first in the women’s 1 mile division on her Wraith SS.

A number of other BOTE paddlers placed as well, and everyone did awesome considering the conditions! Check out the official results:

BOTE had a great time and is looking forward to the 2nd Annual Five Flags Paddleboard Classic!

SEE Y’ALL AT THE NEXT RACE!!!

Thank you to Coastal Paddle Company for the results and always a BIG thank you to Paddle Destin for the support and the pictures!

Taking SUP fishing to the next level!

BOTE paddlers and fishers, alike, have caught many fish off of their paddle boards, but none the size of Steve Dougherty’s, of Florida Sport Fishing Magazine, sailfish!

“While filming an episode of Florida Sport Fishing TV – JACKPOT! Monster sailfish crushed Steve’s gog along a nice color change in 120′ off Spanish River. Fish towed him out to 250′ before being released. The new season starts July 2012 on SunSports.”

BOTE is excited that Steve is utilizing his board to the fullest! From paddling, fishing, to surfing- That is what the BOTE board is all about! Can’t wait to see what Steve does (or catches!) next!

What is the largest fish that you’ve caught from a paddle board? Please share it with us on our Facebook page!

For more information about the board that Steve is using, visit our website at www.boteboard.com.
